At about 9:30 a.m. on December 26, an explosion caused a fire during a scientific research experiment on landfill leachate and sewage treatment in the environmental engineering laboratory of the East Campus of Beijing Jiaotong University. At 10:20 in the morning, the fire was under control. After preliminary verification, a total of 3 graduate students participating in the experiment were killed in the accident.
