Tianjin Medical University General Hospital became the first to introduce a new generation of global cervical cancer screening technology platform -- Aptima®HPV testing, the technology platform developed by the United States Haoluojie company (Hologic Inc.), at the same time, "Haoluojie cervical cancer screening demonstration laboratory" was officially completed in the hospital on December 10, 2014.

It is well known that 99.7 percent of cervical cancer is associated with high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and persistent infection of high-risk HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer. Detection of high-risk HPV virus can effectively screen out high-risk groups of cervical cancer. At present, cervical cancer-related HPV virus detection is mainly to detect viral DNA, and most of the HPV DNA positive results are transient infection. The virus is cleared by the body's immune system within 6-12 months, and high-level cervical tissue lesions do not occur. When the virus occurs after persistent infection, the virus DNA and the DNA of human cells integration, a large number of transcription of two oncogenes E6, E7 mRNA, the generation of cancer protein, thus leading to cervical precancerous lesions. The latest Aptima in the world®HPV detection technology is to detect the mRNA of two oncogenes of HPV virus. Compared with the simple detection of DNA, it can effectively reduce the detection of transient HPV virus infection, so as to reduce the subsequent unnecessary colposcopy histological detection, reduce social medical expenses and reduce unnecessary psychological pressure of patients. The clinical application of this technology will also open a new chapter in the field of cervical cancer screening and prevention in China.
